Hospital Liaison

Department: Marketing

Purpose of Position:

To generate referrals from outlier hospitals. To develop relationships with hospitals, social workers and physicians that lead to referrals. To make referrals from the hospitals and physicians to admission staff.  To conduct onsite assessments of potential residents.  To send referrals that lead to admissions.


Must possess experience in healthcare marketing with exceptional communication skills. Must have experience and knowledge of the hospitals and have established relationships with social workers and discharge planners. Must have patient assessment skills, discretion, understand HIPPA laws, basic understand of Medicare/Medicaid. Must have excellent presentation skills, the ability to communicate effectively to families, physicians and hospital staff. Must have good understanding of Medicare and Medicaid benefits as it pertains to skilled nursing.

Proven ability to work under stress and exercise good judgment. Must be creative and have excellent writing skills. Must be effective team player. Work Hours:

40 hours per week and availability as needed by cell phone. Evening and weekend availability as needed.

Duties and responsibilities:

•         Generates referral from the following but not limited to:

•         Hospitals

•         Physicians

•         Senior Centers

•         Hospice Entities

•         Assisted Living, Supportive Living, Independent Living etc

•         Home Health Agencies

•         Other

•         Monitors and advises VBD on developments within marketplace including competition

•         Develops and administers marketing data-base for referrals of physicians, hospitals, social workers etc.

•         Develops a relationship with all Facility Administrators, DON, Admissions and Marketing Staff. Must have clear understanding of all services each facility provides.

•         Regular visits to potential and current referral sources

•         Act as liaison with area hospitals and referral sources with procuring referrals, agreements and may intercede on behalf of the facility if problems or concerns arise which may damage the relationship between referral source and facility.

•         Assist facility staff with promotional events including open house, health fairs, etc

Job Requirements

      Determine the needs of the hospitals and make suggestions of programs, services and other suggestions to increase referrals.

•         Monitor each facility census on a daily basis, assist marketing and admission staff at facilities as needed.

•         Screen resident referrals to ensure residents meet admission criteria.

•         Attend ACO, PAN and other hospital meetings.

•         Physician Recruitment

•         Assist in setting up CEU, Physician CME and other educational events

•         Other duties as assigned.
